This was a tense game and a proper rugby match between two well matched and committed teams.
Both sides were up for a battle but Harborough had the best of the early exchanges, using their superior size to pin Forest in their own half and getting the first try after just 6 minutes.
For a while Forest struggled to find their groove and had to rely on a solid defensive spell to prevent Harborough from adding to their lead. Eventually though some great passing at pace gave Ethan some space on the wing and he scored to make it 5-7.

Ethan scored again on 24 mins this time getting closer to the posts and Will added the conversion. Harborough came back strongly though and Forest conceded a penalty inside the 22 which Harborough scored to make the half time score 12-10.

Any Forest fans that had finger nails unbitten in the first half soon started nibbling away when Harborough scored a second penalty two minutes into the second half to regain the lead 12-13. It was then though that Forest started to move the ball around and forced Harborough to defend for their lives. Eventually the pressure paid off and Callum scored after taking a quick penalty. Soon after Jackson scored a typical sniping try, which Will converted, to make it 24-13.

Harborough weren’t finished though and responded with another try to make the final minutes very tense. Forest had the final say when a perfectly weighted kick left the Harborough full back isolated and under pressure on his own try line. His clearance kick was weak and went straight to the on rushing Forest players and he could do nothing to stop Michael scoring in the corner.

Final score 29-20.

This was an occasion that the players everyone connected with the team will remember for a long time. Thank you to Ian, Steve, Morgan and the other coaches that have helped the boys develop into a really good rugby team.
